Ireland Photography Tours & Workshops

There’s nowhere I feel more connected to than Ireland. It’s home, and every inch of it has something worth pointing a camera at. From the crashing waves of the Atlantic at Malin Head to quiet stone cottages tucked into green hillsides, Ireland is full of drama, beauty and texture. And it’s not just the grand views, it’s the little details too: winding back roads, rusting gates, tractors working the peat fields, sea mist curling through valleys.

These aren’t fast-paced sightseeing tours. We go slow. We take our time at each location, waiting for the light, soaking up the atmosphere, and looking for compositions that tell a story. Most days we’ll visit no more than three or four locations, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the landscape, because when you slow down, you start to see.

My Ireland photography tours are crafted with photographers in mind, showcasing a mix of iconic spots like the Giant’s Causeway, Cliffs of Moher, and Slea Head, alongside those places only locals know about. Expect early mornings (I know, I know… no one loves a 5am start, but trust me, it’s worth it), late golden light, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Food? Usually grabbed on the go, unless the weather gives us a good excuse to sit in somewhere warm. History? Sure, it’s all around you, but we’re not here for a lecture, we’re here to photograph it. These aren’t your typical tourist trips, food tours, or sightseeing excursions. They’re photography adventures with a small group of like-minded folk and a guide who knows the land.

And when you look at what’s included; airport transfers, accommodation, local guidance, entry fees, exclusive access to certain locations, photography mentorship, a thoughtfully crafted itinerary, and a group of no more than five, it’s not just a tour, it’s a full experience that offers real value for money!

Whether it’s your first time in Ireland or your fifth, you’ll leave with a memory card full of magic and probably already planning your return.

Just got back from the Iceland tour. This was undoubtedly one of the best trips I have embarked on. Tyler definitely knows his stuff and brought us to each location at the best time of the day. We just needed to sit back, relax, and let him do his thing. It also meant that I was free of the hassle of looking at the substorm activity and weather when chasing the northern lights, having chased them on my own for a number of years only without much luck. I can imagine this is no easy job as the plan and itinerary of each day needed to change every hour depending on the weather and how crowded the locations were. Tyler is also the most encouraging when shooting on location, giving just the right amount of guidance and lots of freedom. I met the best companions on this tour, and I never would have thought I would bring home such precious memories. I have recommended Tyler to several of my friends, and I personally am looking forward to my next tour already.

I loved the high level of intensity from early mornings to late nights waiting on the aurora. Most importantly, your advance location work meant I could give ample time and full attention to the play of light on the vistas before me~without the distractions of logistics planning or renting a car. I appreciated your flexibility and sense of timing to drive us to ideal locations at the best moment for the light. An added plus was being in the international company of three other dedicated photographers who were jolly good companions!

Just back from a fabulous workshop in Lofoten with Tyler. First off - Lofoten is a landscape photographer’s paradise with a multitude of stunning locations all within easy reach. This means more time photographing and less time driving between photo stops. Bear in mind that the weather is volatile. and can be absolutely wild. This means potentially days lost (as we found out) but can also give some incredible shooting conditions as the storms clear. Tyler is a superb photographer (check out his images if you haven't done so) and he knows the locations intimately. He is knowledgable and willing to provide as much guidance as you need or to leave you alone to do your own thing if that's what you prefer. He is also very skilled in using Lightroom/Photoshop and gave us a tutorial one evening which was incredibly useful. The upshot is that you are bound to come back with lots of memorable and stunning images. Oh, and Tyler has a great instinct for finding the Aurora which meant we were chasing it whenever the skies were clear. This resulted in a truly epic night at Vik beach where we captured the lights in all their glory. The cherry on the top of a truly memorable trip!

FAQs

My FAQ section is designed to provide you with all the essential information you need about my Ireland Photography Tours.

Each of these tours takes you to a different part of Ireland or Northern Ireland, and each one offers something unique.

The Donegal Photo Tour is all about slowing down and diving deep into County Donegal, one of the most remote and breathtaking corners of Ireland. You’ll photograph dramatic locations like An Port, Glencolmcille, Maghera Beach, Assaranca Waterfall, Slieve League, and Mount Errigal. It’s wild, raw, and full of character – perfect if you want to fully immerse yourself in Donegal’s landscapes.

The Causeway Coast Photo Tour focuses on the iconic north coast of Northern Ireland, with a mix of seascapes, cliffs, and castles. We shoot dramatic spots like the Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Ballintoy Harbour, Kinbane Castle, The Dark Hedges, and Torr Head. It’s a tour packed with atmosphere, history, and unique rock formations.

The North West Ireland Photo Tour allows you to see the best of both Donegal and the Causeway Coast in one unforgettable journey. You’ll capture the remote beauty of Crohy Head, Murder Hole Beach, Marble Hill, and Lough Dunlewey, before heading east to shoot the legendary Giant’s Causeway, the haunting ruins of Dunluce Castle, and the rugged coastline near Fair Head. It’s a slightly faster-paced tour, but incredibly rewarding for those who want variety in their portfolio.

All levels are welcome on my Ireland Photography Tours. Whether you’re just learning how to use manual mode or you’ve been shooting for years, you’ll get a lot out of the tour. I keep the group size small so I can tailor my guidance to each person, from camera setup and composition to more advanced techniques.

Comfortable and convenient. I book cosy B&Bs, small hotels, or guesthouses close to our shooting locations, with a focus on a good night’s sleep, hot showers, and a warm welcome. Wherever possible, I choose places that include breakfast.

Nope! Once the tour begins, I’ve got transport sorted. I’ll pick you up from the agreed meeting point and drive us to each location in a comfortable vehicle, so you can focus fully on your photography.

Some of the best vantage points do require a little effort to reach. Expect walks of never no more than 1 hour, depending on the location, and the terrain can vary. Some routes are uphill and rocky, others are flat paths through sand dunes, and some follow gravel tracks or sheep trails.

You don’t need to be an athlete, but if you struggle with mobility or longer walks, these tour might not be suitable. I’ll always give you a heads-up in advance of each shoot, and we’ll take our time getting there but being able to move confidently and safely across different terrain is an important part of the experience.

Location planning and guiding

Flights, meals, and travel insurance are not included – but I’ll provide you with tips and guidance for booking the right flights, and I’ll keep you informed about all other details well in advance.

To keep things flexible and focused on photography, everyone is responsible for their own meals. I usually choose places that include breakfast, but if not, we’ll stop at a supermarket so you can stock up on essentials for breakfast and dinner.

If we’re headed somewhere remote or without access to restaurants, I’ll let you know in advance. If you want to enjoy a proper sit-down meal, the middle of the day – during our downtime – is the best time for that. But if the light is great, I won’t want to be tied to a restaurant. The focus is always on photography.

Yes. All my tours are built around the best light, which usually means early mornings and late evenings. The rhythm of the day changes depending on the time of year.

In summer, we focus on sunrise and sunset, with a long break during the day for resting, editing, or exploring.

In winter, especially in December, the light can be beautiful all day long, so we’re often out shooting from sunrise to sunset, with breaks as needed.

Small! Usually just 3 to 6 participants. This keeps things relaxed and personal, and allows me to give everyone the attention and help they need in the field.

This is the island of Ireland, the weather is part of the story. I check the forecast constantly and adjust our plans accordingly. Dramatic skies, passing showers, and moody conditions often create some of the best images. I’ll always have a backup plan or an alternative location ready. Being flexible is part of the experience and often leads to unexpected magic.

Very little. I take care of the logistics, the schedule, the locations – all you need to do is turn up and shoot. All I ask is that you trust me and the process. If I say we’re leaving early, there’s a reason. If I decide we’re skipping sunrise, there’s a reason for that too – maybe the light’s not looking promising, and we’ll get more from resting and going out later.

I’ll always explain the plan, and I’ll adapt each day around the conditions. If you stay open and flexible, you’ll get so much more out of the experience.
