I recently returned from a photography trip to Lofoten, Norway with Chasing Light Tours Ltd., and it genuinely exceeded all my expectations. Every moment was fantastic from start to finish. Tyler was an exceptional guide — knowledgeable, calm, and always focused on keeping the group safe while getting us to the very best locations. He was also great craic, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Tyler, my fellow companions, the small group size and of course the location were key to the success of this tour. It created a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and allowed everyone to get the most out of each location without feeling rushed. The locations were simply mind‑blowing: Flakstad Beach, Haukland Beach, Uttakleiv Beach, Reine, Hamnøy, Sakrisøy, Nusfjord, and of course Ramberg. Each stop felt carefully chosen, and the variety of landscapes and other elements to photograph was both stunning and varied. The photography guidance was top‑class. Tyler’s tips on aurora settings were especially helpful, and I could see my shots improve noticeably over the week. I also really appreciated the advice on expanding creativity, which pushed me to try new approaches and think differently about composition. Accommodation was another highlight — staying in a 150+ year‑old traditional Norwegian house was a real treat and added so much character to the overall experience. I couldn’t recommend Chasing Light Tours highly enough. If you’re looking for a well‑run, inspiring photography tour with expert guidance, stunning locations, and a great group atmosphere, this is it. If you are thinking about it, don't hesistate, life is too short, just go ahead and do it!
Just got back from the Iceland tour. This was undoubtedly one of the best trips I have embarked on. Tyler definitely knows his stuff and brought us to each location at the best time of the day. We just needed to sit back, relax, and let him do his thing. It also meant that I was free of the hassle of looking at the substorm activity and weather when chasing the northern lights, having chased them on my own for a number of years only without much luck. I can imagine this is no easy job as the plan and itinerary of each day needed to change every hour depending on the weather and how crowded the locations were. Tyler is also the most encouraging when shooting on location, giving just the right amount of guidance and lots of freedom. I met the best companions on this tour, and I never would have thought I would bring home such precious memories. I have recommended Tyler to several of my friends, and I personally am looking forward to my next tour already.
I loved the high level of intensity from early mornings to late nights waiting on the aurora during our Iceland workshop. Most importantly, Tyler's advance location work meant I could give ample time and full attention to the play of light on the vistas before me~without the distractions of logistics planning or renting a car. I appreciated his flexibility and sense of timing to drive us to ideal locations at the best moment for the light. When I was experimenting with a new lens Tyler answered my technical questions and offered helpful suggestions. An added plus was being in the international company of three other dedicated photographers who were jolly good companions!

Senja with Tyler was amazing! He made sure we were in the right locations to make the most of the changeable weather each day. Tyler’s experience as an aurora guide was invaluable and meant that we were able to capture any Northern Lights activity. Tyler ensured everyone had the right settings to capture scenes and he also took time to assist and suggest compositions. He also paid particular attention to the less experienced landscape photographers to ensure they got the best from the workshop. Self catering gave us the most flexibility and it was great being able to photograph the aurora from our base. It was also clear Tyler has considerable experience driving in artic conditions which meant we all were very comfortable and felt safe at all times. Thank you for a fantastic workshop Tyler. I’m still reminiscing! I would thoroughly recommend a workshop with Tyler. This was my second workshop with him and I am looking forward to another one later this year and more next year with Tyler.
I had a fantastic week in Senja, Norway, with Tyler. His in-depth knowledge of the best locations around the island & his photography expertise meant I came back with some great shots. Thanks Tyler.
Just back from a fabulous workshop in Lofoten with Tyler. First off - Lofoten is a landscape photographer’s paradise with a multitude of stunning locations all within easy reach. This means more time photographing and less time driving between photo stops. Bear in mind that the weather is volatile. and can be absolutely wild. This means potentially days lost (as we found out) but can also give some incredible shooting conditions as the storms clear. Tyler is a superb photographer (check out his images if you haven't done so) and he knows the locations intimately. He is knowledgable and willing to provide as much guidance as you need or to leave you alone to do your own thing if that's what you prefer. He is also very skilled in using Lightroom/Photoshop and gave us a tutorial one evening which was incredibly useful. The upshot is that you are bound to come back with lots of memorable and stunning images. Oh, and Tyler has a great instinct for finding the Aurora which meant we were chasing it whenever the skies were clear. This resulted in a truly epic night at Vik beach where we captured the lights in all their glory. The cherry on the top of a truly memorable trip!
My trip to Senja with Chasing Light Tours was fantastic, the locations were great and the guiding first class. A real shout out goes to the choice of accommodation - comfortable and convenient with photo locations right on our doorstep! Adding to this a year later, having done a second trip with Tyler to the Lofoten Islands. A fantastic week which was well organised at every stage. He has a detailed knowledge of the classic locations to photograph, as well as small out of the way places that give you something different!
Tyler's passion not only for photography, but for helping people hone their skills, made this a trip of a lifetime. Our group had a range of experience and equipment and Tyler met each of us where we were and helped create amazing photos and great memories. We saw an erupting volcano, multiple nights of the aurora, glaciers, mountains, waterfalls, reindeer and ponies, basalt formations, black sand beaches and more. There was a never-ending supply of subjects and shooting conditions. Tyler plans his trips meticiously yet still allowed us to pivot when unplanned events occurred (like an erupting volcano!). He gave us free range to explore, yet kept our safety paramount. Finally, Tyler's knowledge of Iceland took us to places off the beaten path and even when we were at more touristy spots, he timed it so that we were gone as the big tour buses arrived. I highly recommend Tyler and Chasing Light Tours for your next photographic adventure!

Tyler at Chasing the Light Tours was very knowledgeable on both Iceland and photography, nothing was too much trouble to make sure the tour was a success. Our tour was made up of a group of individuals with a mixed photographic experience, Tyler tailored his advice to each, so that they could get the best out of holiday. I would strongly recommend him and plan to travel with him again soon.
I’m rekindling my photo skills and was very rusty ! This was an amazing trip and Tyler had so much patience. I learnt a great deal and we were fortunate to have a fabulous group. Iceland must be seen in small groups ( I did some commercial tours ) and this is the only way to photograph as you have lots of time. I would highly recommend Tyler and I will be going on many more tours in the future. Thanks so much. Really appreciated everything. Mike T. New Forest. Uk.
I spent a great week with Tyler in the Dolomites. It was nice to have all the logistics handled and not having to worry about driving, parking and getting to the right place at the right time. Tyler managed all this and more. I personally learnt a lot from this first time experience in a photo tour directly from him and the group as well. Straight from the trip, I even got a drone (as I had never previously considered it). Tyler was very helpful and the tour overall was fantastic if you are a photographer. The small group size and personalized attention if you have questions made it easily something that I highly recommend.
Tyler is a great guy, quite knowledgeable, keen and helpful without being overwhelming or patronising. He gives you enough space and comments on your work at the right time. Quite well organised, works hard and knows his geography well and his photography is truly great. I have no hesitation in recommending his tour company for your photographic pursuits. My journey to Iceland was truly unforgettable, marking it as the pinnacle of all my travels. Long had I harbored a desire to witness Iceland's breathtaking landscapes, yet the prospect of solo exploration seemed daunting. Serendipitously, I stumbled upon Chasing Light Tours online, a decision that would reshape my travel narrative. Guided by Tyler's reassuring correspondence, my apprehensions dissolved, replaced by eager anticipation fueled by his invaluable insights. Tyler masterfully curated every facet of my Icelandic adventure, orchestrating accommodations and crafting a seamless itinerary. His adept knowledge unearthed hidden marvels and coveted photographic vistas, transforming mere dreams into tangible reality. Undoubtedly, Chasing Light Tours will remain my compass for future photographic odysseys. Among the myriad of enchanting experiences, basking in the warmth of geothermal springs beneath the dancing aurora borealis stands as the epitome of wonder. My heartfelt gratitude extends to Tyler for orchestrating a journey beyond compare. Until our paths cross again, thank you for illuminating my Icelandic escapade with unparalleled brilliance. James x
Highly Recommend Chasing Lights Tours. Just recently home from 7 Nights in Lofoten Islands, Norway and it was absolutely incredible. Tylers knowledge of the area and skies allowed us to capture the Northern Lights on more than several occasion's throughout the course. Accommodation was perfect for the trip, A home from home with a supermarket and coffee shop right on our doorstep. Tylers enthusiasm for photography and the love of the outdoors was very refreshing and infectious, As a commercial photographer by traded I went into this course looking to learn as much as I could and Tylers wealth of knowledge and patients allowed me to learn so much in such a sort period of time. I would like to thank Tyler again and I look forward to going on another course very soon.
I can firmly recommend anyone looking to book a "Chasing Light Tour". Tyler is extremely knowledgeable about the location (Faroe Islands in this case) and tailors the tour to suit the conditions and the participants. Knowledgable photographer, good accomodation, small group, great locations. What more could you ask for!
I love travel to new locations with experienced photographer, as they know what it takes for great photography. Tyler's Chasing Light Tour trip to Faroe Islands really exceeded my expectations. His friendly attitude, high level of energy and location knowledge wrapped in a very attractive pricing. The experience is a calm, no rush, peaceful reunion with the nature and stunning landscape, and Taylor will be here brining you back to base at the end of the day.
Having been on many photo tours with multiple organisations, I can honestly say that “Chasing Light Tours” is right up there as one of the very best; a first class service from start to finish! I especially love the “small group” aspect of the trips offered by Tyler and they are all exceptionally good value! Two more adventures already booked with “Chasing Light Tours” and very much looking forward to them……
It is the second time that I join Tyler on a workshop, after my Lofoten trip in 2020 I did not hesitate for a second tour to the Faroe Islands. It continues to amaze me how many places we visit to photograph in such a short time, and again tyler manages to find the northern lights 😎 He also takes the time to show the tricks of Lightroom in order to create beautiful images. Tyler's workshops are top class for me, you go home tired and satisfied with many beautiful memories and photos.
Great photography tour. Tyler is an excellent tutor when it comes to providing advise on how to improve your photographic skills and composition. He is very attentive to the needs of the participants and always willing to help. The tour will take you to some very nice location for landscape photography. This is not a touristy tour it is made for photographers who like landscape and nature photography. We have been lucky enough to see 4 times the Northern lights, at varied degrees of activity but managed to get some good photography. The tour is fairly fluid in terms of schedule, based on weather conditions and light. Really recommend it for people who want to improve their photography skills, while enjoying rural Iceland.
