I recently took part in the Senja 2024 February Trip, and it was truly incredible. Not only were we blessed with incredible weather conditions, but Tyler's dedication was exceptional. He goes above and beyond to ensure his workshop exceeds expectations. Tyler is genuinely easygoing, and chatting with him about photography, or anything else for that matter, was an absolute pleasure. Thank you, Tyler. I look forward to crossing paths again someday! Tyler is the type of photography guide that recognizes and respects each participants needs. Giving lots of space for those that desire it while finding the best sites and times to shoot. Yet sensing the needs of others that may want/need more instruction. Tyler is unique in his workshops in that he limits his group size to no more than 5 participants. Perfect for traveling, building learnings and 1/1 attention if needed. Linda from Seattle, WA

What an amazing trip. Thanks Tyler for all your tuition. I feel I have learned a lot about composition, editing, and how to set up the camera best for each condition. The week was jam packed with visiting a variety of locations, and Tyler’s knowledge of the area and best time of day to visit each location was outstanding. And even when the weather turned against us one evening, we had a great session about photo editing. Thanks for everything, now to book the next trip….

Tyler excels at being able to address the individual photography skills of each traveler. Whether very experienced (20+ years) to someone new to the craft, he is able to identify and then teach new skills that add to each photographer’s repertoire. My wife and I joined Tyler on his Iceland expedition in early November, 2023. The sites we visited provided unique opportunities for various compositions and there was no micro-managing at the location but freedom was given to allow each to explore various approaches / methods / compositions to suit individual desires. I would highly recommend this tour and Tyler is very much a professional. Excellent!

I have recently returned from a photo workshop in the Dolomites (mid-October 2023). Well, what can I say ? That young Mr Collins (aka Tyler) is one seriously top bloke with the result that I had an absolutely fantastic time, and enjoyed the workshop far more than I could ever have imagined. And to think that at the last minute I wasn't going to go as the forecast was seemingly rubbish. I should know based on the vagaries of the British weather that forecasts more than five minutes hence should be taken with a pinch of salt. With his motoring dexterity at times rivalling that of a Dutch F1 driver, Tyler took us to a number of iconic photo locations where I and others in the group pretended to know what we were doing whilst Tyler oversaw our efforts offering tips and tricks where appropriate. So, even though the conditions were not wall to wall sunshine, 28 degrees in the shade and cloud inversions aplenty (as we had been promised 🙂), we had favourable weather offering ample photo opportunities. Fortunately, Tyler also managed to deal with my ineptitude behind the camera and came to accept (well almost) my mantra of ‘just one more pic’ 🙂. The accommodation at two separate locations was excellent and both were well located such that none of the chosen photo locations was too far away. And importantly, Tyler ensured the itinerary remained flexible, both to accommodate the local ambient conditions but also to suit the wishes of the workshop participants. I’d never previously set foot in the Dolomites but I was blown away by the scenery. The time of the workshop meant that we were treated to Autumnal colours that made their way into many of our images. The small group size was an added bonus, not to mention the cost of the workshop which doesn’t break the bank (although I’m not suggesting a retrospective price hike Tyler 🙂). And not having to plan the day beyond getting up, taking photos, retiring to one’s pit and going through the ‘rinse and repeat’ cycle for seven days was all very relaxing and something I could get quite used to. But, personally speaking, what made the workshop so enjoyable was everyone in the group. We were all pretty chilled (it was only around 12 degrees 😲) but always keen to get a good shot, even when the conditions tested our patience somewhat. Most importantly for me, we had a good laugh from start to finish making the days entertaining throughout. Furthermore, courtesy of the individual group members, I am now significantly wiser in many subject areas including where the Isle of Sheppey is, the behavioural tendencies of dragonflies with respect to the ‘birds and the bees’, handstands make for epic photos in the ‘puddle’ at the Passo di Giau, Minnesota provides amazing fall colours and that one can always rely on a Welsh Brummy to find suitable foreground and lead-in lines 🙂. I also managed to conduct a survey regarding the popularity of the British band The Smiths. The minor inquisition of asking fellow hikers and photographers was spawned by our illustrious guide not having heard of such icons from the 80s in spite of his somewhat eclectic musical tastes ranging from Icelandic singer songwriters to popular Italian pianists (the latter in the form of Einaudi). Interestingly, responses to what became the ubiquitous question ranged from a mono-syllabic no, through to a yes, with in one instance a follow up to an affirmative response being 'who hasn't ?' Well, I could think of one person in our midst who hadn't 🙄. The overall conclusion was that it was equally split as to whether the Smiths had migrated over the channel. Take note, I'm not on commission for conducting such surveys in mountainous terrain 🙂. As a final word, if you are contemplating going on a Photo Workshop, either to hone your photographic skills or just to share your ambitions of travelling to photogenic locations, I would have no hesitation in recommending Tyler and Chasing Light Tours. You certainly won’t be disappointed and you’ll return home with memories that will stay with you for a loooong time !!

I was lucky enough to go on a photography tour to Lofoten last month with Chasing Lights Tours and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Tyler. He is a knowledgeable and experienced photographer, and he provided valuable tips and advice on everything from camera set-ups through to post-production techniques. Throughout the tour, Tyler was easy going, generous and had a great sense of humour. He was also a confident and safe driver, taking us to some great locations in the archipelago. Thanks to his knowledge of the best viewing areas and an understanding of the necessary weather conditions, I was able to see the northern lights on two occasions! I had an amazing trip and felt that I learnt a lot during the tour. I am now more confident in using my camera kit and have some beautiful photos and memories of taking them which I will cherish. I can't recommend Tyler and Chasing Lights Tours highly enough - it was a fantastic experience, and I am very grateful to Tyler for making it so enjoyable.

The Lofoten Photography Tour with Chasing Light Tours was excellent! Tyler is an accomplished and creative photographer who is extremely professional and very knowledgeable. The entire tour was packed full of relevant information that was presented in a very accessible and user-friendly way, about focusing, aperture settings, shutter speeds, ISO settings and much, much more. This enabled me to use my camera to its full potential. The tour was also enjoyable and fun. Tyler looked after everyone extremely well and drove with care and skill on the icy roads. He took us to well-chosen locations that he had previously researched and visited to maximise photographic potential. The spacious accommodation that we stayed in was great and had all the amenities that we needed. I highly recommend going on a photography tour with Chasing Light Tours!

Tyler led us through a trip to Lofoten in the end of January 2023. His experience within this area, his patience with clients and aurora borealis (northern lights) forecasting skills made it a once in a lifetime experience. Tyler’s workshops consist of small groups, so he can pick everyone up at his/her photography level. Whether you are experienced or not, he‘ll improve you. Thanks for the great trip!

Just back from a fantastic trip with Tyler to the Lofoten Islands. The trip was managed expertly from start to finish, and the small group size meant you got as much or little tuition as you wanted. Tyler clearly knows the area intimately, and the right time to visit, and really enjoys the ever changing landscapes, he isn’t simply going through the motions. We even got woken late at night when Tyler spotted the lights and given the option to go out and see. You can tell he wants to get you the best experience, and photographic opportunities possible. I think it’s fair to say we all come back happy with our images and shared adventure, and I for one will be re-booking sometime soon. Life is all about getting these type of amazing experiences so if you get the chance, go for it. Thanks Tyler.

I was on the 7 nights Lofoten Islands photo tour with Tyler and 3 other photographers in October 2022. Tyler knows the Lofoten Islands very well and knows landscape and Northern Lights photography very well. He took us to many great locations. The weather was somewhat challenging with rain, some high winds and snow. But we were able to go out 3 nights for Auroras and got some nice photos. He provides help with camera settings to get the best captures. Group size is kept small. Follow his guidelines for clothing (make sure you have waterproof gloves and pants) and you can be comfortable in the weather. I can recommend Tyler to help you get the most out of a photography trip to the Lofoten Islands.

It is the second time that I join Tyler on a workshop, after my Lofoten trip in 2020 I did not hesitate for a second tour to the Faroe Islands. It continues to amaze me how many places we visit to photograph in such a short time, and again tyler manages to find the northern lights 😎 He also takes the time to show the tricks of Lightroom in order to create beautiful images. Thoroughly enjoyed my 5 day tour to Skye with Tyler. The process of booking was easy and communication good. Tyler knew the locations well and was able to chose the best for the day based on the weather forecast. He's an excellent teacher and I learned a huge amount about landscape photography. The proof is the photo I took at the end of the trip in Glen Coe on the way home which I would never have been able to take before the trip. Unfortunately the weather frustrated us a fair bit so there was no chance to do any aurora shoots or astrophotography but these we very much in Tyler's plans. We stayed in Dunvegan which did mean a fair amount of driving each day and perhaps Portree would have been better but our Airbnb accommodation worked well for the group. Already thinking about which trip to do next.....

This was my first photography workshop. I am a fairly novice landscape photographer. I learnt a huge amount very quickly in camera setup and composition. Early hops to catch the sunrise. Tyler was patient and helpful, and easy company. Lots of help after shooting with Lightroom as well. What you get out of this will depend on your experience - if you are very experienced then it will be tips and being taken to good locations, if less experienced then the basics will be covered. I would happily join Tyler again for a workshop. Really enjoyable, thanks.

This is not a touristy tour it is made for photographers who like landscape and nature photography. We have been lucky enough to see 4 times the Northern lights, at varied degrees of activity but managed to get some good photography. Great November tour to Iceland. Tyler makes everybody feel included and is free with his advice and tuition so that we all could get the best photographs we could. This is helped by the genuine small group nature of his tours. Time is spent at great locations at the best possible moments. The day starts with sunrise photography but doesn't end at sunset as we had a number of nights photographing the aurora. This is a photographers trip not a rush around to see every possible sight on the itinerary tourist trip. Highly recommended for photographers of all skill levels.

I joined a tour to Iceland in November 2021. It was everything I expected and more. Tyler is a great non-nonsense guide who creates a relaxed atmosphere while using every available minute. I got some great tips here and there that were to the point and will help me in the rest of my picture-making 'career'. This is not a luxury tour and that's fine by me. They taught me new photography techniques like shooting panorama and the proper settings for capturing the aurora. I recently returned from a workshop with Tyler at the Lofoten island's. The whole trip from start to finish was excellent. Even when conditions were extremely difficult for photography (2 day snow blizzard), we managed to get fantastic images, if it wasn't for Tylers determination to get us out, I would have stayed in the log cabin with the fire going! Tyler had obviously done his homework regarding sunrise and sunset locations, and due to this we got nice side lighting on each location. We were lucky enough to get aurora 4 nights out of 7 and the last night the sky exploded which put the icing on the cake. Tyler is a perfectionist when it comes to composition and i learnt a lot from him during this trip. What a great 2-day adventure traveling around Northern Ireland with Tyler! Tyler planned our entire 2-days, bringing us to some fantastic locations for what we called “photography camp” for a group of 3 of us. He customized the 8 hr days based on each of our learning needs/desires and made sure we arrived at each location with plenty of time to catch great photos. Even the rain didn’t stop us...it made for a perfect opportunity to catch a rainbow shot. He also went out of his way to pick us up/return us to our hotel. Highly recommend his private tours and we can’t wait to join him on one of his trips to see northern lights sometime!

What an amazing week that was ! I already visited Iceland once in the past but a dedicated photography workshop really makes a huge difference. And Tyler is no stranger to the success of last week workshop. First keeping voluntarily the number of participants low (we were 4) makes the experience more 1-to-1 style, more personal. Easier to get advice on composition, equipment,….. Tyler really works hard for everybody to have a wonderful time and to get back home with pictures to be happy with, sometimes driving very long distance just to get the right light at the right moment. He also constantly adapts the schedule to both weather conditions and participants wishes. Don’t be deter by the relative lower prices compared to the crazy expensive 15-participants workshop one finds on internet. This just makes the choice of Tyler’s workshop even more straightforward. Would I go for another workshop with Tyler ? Tomorrow without any hesitation ! Thank you Tyler ! Thank you ! Thank you !
