I offer one-day photography workshops (7 hours) throughout the year, at a time and date that suits you best. These private sessions are tailored to enhance your landscape photography skills, enabling you to produce superior images while enjoying the process.

My workshops are hands-on and practical, centred around immersing yourself in the landscape and capturing stunning images. I firmly believe that the most effective way to improve your landscape photography is through hands-on experience and practice in the great outdoors.

Primarily conducted in Inishowen, County Donegal, or along the captivating Causeway Coast, these workshops provide ample opportunities to explore and photograph breathtaking landscapes. As a local photographer deeply acquainted with these areas, I offer valuable insights and guidance to elevate your photography.

Each workshop is personalised to address your specific needs and areas for improvement. Whether you’re a novice seeking to master the fundamentals or an experienced photographer aiming to refine your skills, I provide tailored instruction and support to help you achieve your objectives.

I love travel to new locations with experienced photographer, as they know what it takes for great photography. Tyler's Chasing Light Tour trip to Faroe Islands really exceeded my expectations. Tyler led us through a trip to Lofoten in the end of January 2023. His experience within this area, his patience with clients and aurora borealis (northern lights) forecasting skills made it a once in a lifetime experience. Tyler’s workshops consist of small groups, so he can pick everyone up at his/her photography level. Whether you are experienced or not, he‘ll improve you. Thanks for the great trip!

Tyler's passion not only for photography, but for helping people hone their skills, made this a trip of a lifetime. Our group had a range of experience and equipment and Tyler met each of us where we were and helped create amazing photos and great memories. We saw an erupting volcano, multiple nights of the aurora, glaciers, mountains, waterfalls, reindeer and ponies, basalt formations, black sand beaches and more. There was a never-ending supply of subjects and shooting conditions. Tyler plans his trips meticiously yet still allowed us to pivot when unplanned events occurred (like an erupting volcano!). He gave us free range to explore, yet kept our safety paramount. Finally, Tyler's knowledge of Iceland took us to places off the beaten path and even when we were at more touristy spots, he timed it so that we were gone as the big tour buses arrived. I highly recommend Tyler and Chasing Light Tours for your next photographic adventure!

I was lucky enough to go on a photography tour to Lofoten last month with Chasing Lights Tours and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Tyler. He is a knowledgeable and experienced photographer, and he provided valuable tips and advice on everything from camera set-ups through to post-production techniques. Throughout the tour, Tyler was easy going, generous and had a great sense of humour. He was also a confident and safe driver, taking us to some great locations in the archipelago. Thanks to his knowledge of the best viewing areas and an understanding of the necessary weather conditions, I was able to see the northern lights on two occasions! I had an amazing trip and felt that I learnt a lot during the tour. I am now more confident in using my camera kit and have some beautiful photos and memories of taking them which I will cherish. What you’ll learn

As this is a private one to one photography workshop, I’m at your complete disposal to help and teach only what you want to know about photography. Once you’ve booked, we’ll chat over email to arrange a date and also so I can understand your goals, making sure that our time together is tailored to your needs to maximise your learning.

Here are a few examples areas if you need inspiration.

Camera Settings: It starts with the basics. RAW, Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. Learn how and when to use the various modes on your camera to get the shot you want.

Composition: Composition is everything in landscape photography. Learn how to compose a landscape photograph.

Long Exposures: Learn how and when to use long exposures so you can create dramatic and interesting photographs.

Histogram: Learn how to read your histogram so that you’re exposing correctly and capturing maximum data with no clipping.

Low Light: Learn how to photograph the night sky and if luck is on our side, we’ll also shoot the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

Editing: Learn how I edit my photographs using Adobe Lightroom Classic with final touches in Photoshop.
