I recently took part in the Senja 2024 February Trip, and it was truly incredible. Not only were we blessed with incredible weather conditions, but Tyler's dedication was exceptional. He goes above and beyond to ensure his workshop exceeds expectations. Tyler is genuinely easygoing, and chatting with him about photography, or anything else for that matter, was an absolute pleasure. Thank you, Tyler. I look forward to crossing paths again someday! Best regards, Philipp

The Plan

From my experience of running over 30 photography tours, having a fixed daily itinerary is limiting your chances of going home with the best possible images.

I work with the weather as much as possible and visit locations based on the best forecasted weather conditions. This ensures that I’m putting you in the right place at the right time.

Each morning will be on location 1 hour or so before sunrise, and each sunset we’ll be there until 1 hour after sunset.

The below will give you a rough idea of what the plan is.

Day 1 – Arrival Day
Your day kicks off with pickup from Ljubljana (LJU) at 10am or from your accommodation in the area. From there, we’ll drive to our lodgings. Upon arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to settle in before embarking on our initial excursion. We’ll gather for an early dinner around 4pm. The day concludes with a sunset photoshoot at Lake Bled, with the sun setting at approximately 8:20 pm.

Days 2 to 6 – The Adventure
Each day during this period follows a similar pattern. We’ll rise early each morning to be on location before sunrise, typically occurring at 5:40 am. Depending on distance and conditions, we may need to start as early as 4 am. After capturing the morning light, we’ll return to our accommodation for breakfast and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, around 2 pm, we’ll venture out to our next destination. Typically, we aim to visit three locations per day, allowing ample time to appreciate each spot without feeling rushed.

Dinner will be had early to ensure plenty of time for sunset photography, which begins around 8:20 pm. With early starts and packed days, you’ll retire early each evening.

Day 7 – Departure Day
The tour will finish with a dinner around 5pm. The final day of your trip begins with a sunrise photoshoot, followed by checkout from our accommodation and breakfast. we’ll have the entire afternoon for further exploration and photography at other locations, or we can opt for a leisurely afternoon exploring the local town.

What you’ll learn

On this trip I’m at your complete disposal to help and teach you everything I know about photography (if you want).

Here are a few of the key photography techniques that I can cover:

Composition & Light : Composition & light is everything in landscape photography. Learn more about the various techniques I use when composing a landscape photograph from the basics of rules of thirds, to symmetry to leading lines and much more.

Long Exposures: Learn how to use filters and take long exposures so you can create dramatic and interesting photographs.

Histogram: Learn how to read your histogram so that you’re exposing correctly and capturing maximum data with no clipping.

Low Light: Learn how to photograph the night sky or low light.

Panoramas: Learn how to shoot panoramas; both horizontal and vertical

Lightroom: Learn how I import, organise and edit a range of my photographs using Adobe Lightroom Classic

Photoshop: Learn how I finalise my images in Adobe Photoshop

Good to Know

Packing List: A comprehensive packing list will be sent via email after your booking.

Accommodation: During the September Tour, we’ll be lodged at Pensión Török (TBC), where twin rooms are arranged.

Getting to Slovenia: Easyjet offers flights to Ljubljana (LJU) via London Gatwick (LGW). A flight arrives on Tuesday, 24th September, into Ljubljana (LJU) at 09:40, with a return flight on 30th September departing at 21:20 or there is a flight that departs at 10:35am on 1st October (If you opt for this flight, you’ll need to book a nights accommodation). I’ll be arriving in Slovenia a day prior to the tour’s commencement.

Meeting Point: I’ll commence picking up participants from Ljubljana (LJU) at 10 am or if you’ve arrived in early I can pick you up from your accommodation. Once everyone is gathered, we’ll head directly to our lodging, making a stop at the supermarket to gather supplies for the upcoming days.

Ending Point: The tour will finish with a dinner around 5pm on the 30th September. I can drop you to the airport or to your accommodation.

Hiking: Many of the locations we’ll visit involve hiking. While you don’t need to be an athlete, you should be capable of walking on uneven, sometimes steep, and slippery terrain, possibly for up to an hour one way.

Self-Catering: All our tours are self-catered. Upon arrival, we’ll visit the supermarket to procure necessities for a few days, enabling us to bring packed lunches each day. We’ll revisit the supermarket a couple of times during the trip. Throughout, there will be opportunities to visit cafes and occasional restaurants if time permits, but our primary dining will be on the go.

UK Mobile Network: If you’re traveling from the UK, your data roaming will function and usage will be deducted from your domestic data allowance.
